This beautiful Irish love song was introduced to Janet by her harp friend Ruthann Ritchie. She arranged it for her in honor of her late husband. Macushla is Irish for darling or “my pulse”. It was composed by Dermot Macmurrough ca. 1910. Josephine Rowe wrote the lyrics, Verse 1:
“Macushla, macushla, your sweet voice is calling,
calling me softly again and again-
Macushla, macushla I hear its dear pleading
my blue eyed macushla, I hear it in vain…”
