John Stainer (1840-1901) composed this work in 1887 for his cantata, “The Crucifixion” for full choir. Janet often heard it sung by the choir of Little Britain Presbyterian Church in rural Southern Lancaster County, PA when she was growing up. The text is John 3:16. This harp solo version is ideal for Lenten services at Eastertide. Arrangement by Janet Witman.
