This hymn is based on a poem by Richard Wilbur. composed in the 1950’s: (Verse 1) “A Stable lamp is lighted whose glow shall wake the sky;
the stars shall bend their voices, and every stone shall cry.
And every stone shall cry and straw like gold shall shine;
a barn shall harbor heaven, a stall become a shrine.”
In the early 1980’s, organist and composer David Hurd composed the music in a rocking, lullaby setting. Truly beautiful! Arrangements by Janet Witman.
