Serenade by Franz Schubert (Pedal Solo)

$10.00

Harp Solo for Pedal (4 Pages)

German composer Franz Schubert (1797-1828) composed his serenade (“Standchen”) as a lieder for solo voice and piano in 1830, two years before his death at the age of 31. His text is from Shakespeare’s Cymbeline. It is known as an “aubade”- a poem set to music known as “morning music” or lovers parting at dawn. August Horn, a German composer (1825-1893) transcribed Schubert’s lieder for piano solo. Franz Liszt also did a transcription which concert pianists perform often today. Janet has arranged August Horn’s version into a harp solo that is satisfying to play and can be used for many settings: concerts, recitals, meditation, weddings.

Arrangements by Janet Witman.
